About HVACHires

HVACHires is a job board for two trades that share a truck more often than people think: HVAC and plumbing. It covers service techs, installers, helpers and apprentices, journeyman and master plumbers, the pipe trades, and the dispatchers, estimators and managers who keep a shop running.

We gather open HVAC and plumbing jobs from contractors across the country, publish licensing, training and pay guides built from primary sources, and give contractors a direct way to reach people who already do the work.

Why this site exists

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects about 40,600 openings a year for HVAC mechanics and installers and about 42,000 a year for plumbers, pipefitters and steamfitters through 2035.

About two in three of those workers are employed by plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors, and on the big general boards a “service technician” search mixes furnace calls with copier repair and cable installs.

Techs scroll past the jobs they want, and a shop owner's listing sinks under thousands that have nothing to do with the trade.

Hiring in this field is a constant bottleneck.

EPA 608 cards, state and city licenses, and apprenticeship hours all change who can legally do which job, and those rules differ from one state to the next.

HVACHires puts the listings and the rules in one place, so every job, pay guide and licensing page on the site is about HVAC and plumbing work and nothing else.

Business & hiring — not licensed trade work

I'm Gabriel Meierotto, the founder of HVACHires.

I want to be clear about what I'm not. I'm not an HVAC technician or a plumber. I hold no EPA 608 card and no HVAC, mechanical, plumbing or gas license of any kind.

I've never run a service call, and nothing on this site is code, refrigerant-handling, gas or safety advice. Always check licensing and scope with your state or local authority.

My expertise is the business and hiring side of this trade.

When our content touches license scope, code, or state law, we don't rely on my authority or anyone else's memory; we work from primary sources, as described below.

How our job listings are sourced

Listings on HVACHires come from two places: positions we aggregate from employer career pages and public job feeds, refreshed continuously, and positions posted directly by employers on our platform.

Aggregated listings always link back to the original source so you apply directly with the employer.

The one paid placement is a Featured listing (or a Brand subscription, which features every listing): it is pinned at the top of the feed and labelled “Featured”. Apart from that, we don't sell ranking.

How our career and licensing guides are researched

A large share of this site covers licensing requirements, what each license lets you do, and pay — topics where being wrong has real consequences for someone's career.

So the editorial rules are strict:

  • Every state-specific legal or licensing claim is verified against primary sources — the state’s licensing board, the relevant statute or administrative code, or the board’s published guidance — before we publish it.
  • Regulatory pages carry a “last verified” date so you know how current the information is.
  • Pay figures come from named sources, mainly the Bureau of Labor Statistics wage survey, and each page says which BLS occupation a number covers, because BLS doesn’t publish separate wages for most HVAC and plumbing job titles.
  • Where a number changes frequently, we describe the landscape rather than pin a figure that will be stale in six months.

And one thing we deliberately don't do: we never label content “expert reviewed” unless a real, named, licensed tradesperson has actually reviewed it.

No fabricated reviewers, no stock-photo expert panels.

None of this content is legal, code or safety advice.

For decisions about licensing, permits, or business structure, consult your state board or a qualified professional.

Spotted an error?

If something on this site is out of date or wrong — a licensing requirement that changed, a stale salary figure, a broken listing — I want to know.

Email [email protected] and I'll review and correct it.

Corrections are part of the job on a site like this, not an embarrassment.
